Liquid Series by Alissa Volchkova

Liquid Series by Alissa Volchkova

Alissa Volchkova explores production processes in her collection of bowls, called the Liquid Series. First, she creates a perfectly round bowl or a plate by slip casting and then a series of dyed slip is randomly poured over the edges until dry creating a beautifully random piece of functional art with organic edges. By combining the two processes, the end result is a mix between perfection and haphazardness, only determined by where and how the slip moves and how it holds up in the kiln during firing. Once fired, the pieces are completely functional for use or they can be combined and stacked into various artistic configurations.

The Liquid Series will be on display in the Composed Exhibition at Ventura Lambrate in Milan.

Stay In The Clear With Society6

Stay In The Clear With Society6

Let’s admit it. We all took a little longer than we’d like to admit when deciding on our iPhone’s finish. Rose gold, gold, silver, black, AND jet black? Yeah, it definitely took some thinking, especially when such a choice says so much about you. ;-) Society6’s new clear phone cases help justify that necessary time because they’re clear, so that you can show off your hard-thought decision. Here are some of my favorite patterns and designs by the designers at Society6:

Carrots phone case by Lust in Space

Cactus Dream phone case by 83 Oranges

One line Aladdin Sane phone case by Quibe

Get Shit Done phone case by MADEYOUL__K

Sonia phone case by CharlotteWinter

Two Sides A + B phone case by Felipe Chaves Ribeiro

Nebula phone case by Galaxy Eyes

Stay Gold phone case by 83 Oranges

In an ongoing effort to support independent artists from around the world, Design Milk is proud to partner with Society6 to offer The Design Milk Dairy, a special collection of Society6 artists’ work curated by Design Milk and our readers. Proceeds from The Design Milk Dairy help us bring Design Milk to you every day.

Listing REO and HUD properties was a huge boost to my career as a real estate agent. It was also a huge boost to Rochelle Jones’ career who is my guest on this week’s episode of The InvestFourMore Real Estate Podcast. Not only has Rochelle become very successful selling REO and HUD properties, she has also built a fantastic business working with real estate investors including large hedge funds. “When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge.” – Tuli Kupferberg

Shattered Light wallpaper is one of several inspiring printed wallpaper designs in a collection created by Toronto-based wallpaper innovator Rollout, in collaboration with BC artist and designer, Brent Comber.

The pattern is derived from the original LED light embedded wood installation by the artist, who is known for creating large and vivid constructions made with salvaged wood pieces from west coast forests. The imagery itself hints at alternate possibilities, appearing as a disjointed collection of shapes and light, it is a pattern broken to reveal hidden light.

The original artwork was photographed to be prepared by Rollout for use as commercial wallpaper. By working with Rollout to produce the wallpapers in this collection, Comber is empowered to exploit digital technology to effectively uncover textures and nuances in his woodwork, to explore light, shadow, depth and scale as it relates to architectural interiors, revealing new narratives around familiar natural imagery.
