If you only have $15 of fun money left to spend this month, let it be on Adam J. Kurtz’s new book, Things Are What You Make of Them: Life Advice for Creatives. Kurtz is a Brooklyn-based designer, artist and author (his first book was 1 Page at a Time) and his book consists of a foreword by Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge and 13 handwritten chapters chock full of wisdom and advice for any creative from a creative himself.
A few of the titles are “8 Things Every Creative Should Know,” “How to Get Over Comparing Yourself to Other Creatives,” and “What to Do When You Fail.” It’s already been read and reviewed with high praises by Debbie Millman and Alanis Morissette, if that tells you anything. The book’s pages are also perforated so that you can tear them out and hang them on your wall whenever you need a friendly reminder of any lesson from the book.
